About North Auckland

The NZDA was founded in 1937 to promote recreational hunting and shooting sports.  It is a national body with branches throughout New Zealand.

The North Auckland Branch was established in 1958, on its current property at Riverhead.

We offer:

  • Youth activity programmes

  • Hunting and bush craft training

  • Public access for recreational activities

  • Game animal protection and management

  • Firearms safety training

  • National shooting competitions

  • The building and maintenance of huts

  • Participation in the conservation debate

  • Communication with members through magazines and newsletters

We promote safe, responsible use of firearms, and a respect for native flora and fauna. We believe in the principle of public ownership of wildlife generally, and seek to prevent the creation of privileged hunting / exclusive access to the publicly owned fish and wildlife assets that belong to all New Zealanders.

Our Mission

Hunting

At our core, we are a hunting club. We offer party hunts for experienced hunters wanting to share their passion with others and also run our HUNTS course to teach you how to hunt safely and successfully

Shooting

The Branch operates two firing ranges which are open 22 days per year - always on a Sunday.

  • A covered 25m sighting in range. (only operates from 9:30am until midday)

  • A 200/100/50m range for general practice and competitions.

Archery

All members of North Auckland Deerstalkers are welcome to use our Archery Course. The course is open for use on Saturday and Sundays EXCEPT on Range Days
